Cookie Policy

Why blob uses them
Two reasons, and only two. First, to keep you signed in — without a session cookie you would be logged out on every page load. Second, to store your notes and settings on your own device, which is what makes blob open instantly and keep working when the network does not.
We do not use cookies to profile you, to measure marketing campaigns, or to follow you onto other websites.
What we store in your browser
| Category | What it does | Where it lives | Who sets it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Keeps you signed in and maintains your authenticated session. The Service cannot work without it, so it cannot be switched off. Blocking it in your browser will log you out. | Session cookies on the blob domain | blob, Supabase (authentication), Cloudflare (delivery and security) |
| Functional | Remembers your preferences — theme, interface scale, sidebar width, custom shortcuts — and holds your notes locally so the app opens instantly and works offline. This data stays on your device; it is not a tracking mechanism. | Local storage and IndexedDB (“blobDB”) on your device | blob |
| Analytics | Not used today. We do not measure page views, sessions or feature usage with any analytics provider. | — | — |
| Marketing / advertising | Not used today. We run no advertising and set no advertising or attribution cookies. | — | — |
If this changes
We may later add privacy-respecting analytics to understand which features are used, or marketing measurement if we start advertising blob. We are not doing either today.
If we do, we will update this page before the technology goes live, name the provider in the table above, and — where the law requires consent, such as in the EEA and UK — ask for it through a cookie banner with a genuine reject option. Strictly necessary cookies will remain the only category that cannot be turned off.
How you can control cookies
- Browser settings: every major browser lets you block or delete cookies. Blocking the strictly necessary ones will sign you out of blob and keep you signed out.
- Clearing local data: your browser’s “site data” or “storage” settings will clear blob’s local storage and IndexedDB, removing the local copy of your notes. Synced notes remain on our servers and will download again when you sign in.
- Deleting your account: removes your data from our servers as well — see the Privacy Policy for what that covers.
Because we set no analytics or advertising cookies, there is nothing here for you to opt out of beyond the above.
How often we update this policy
We update this notice whenever the technologies we use change, or for operational, legal or regulatory reasons. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
