Cookie Policy

01What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They hold information that can later be read back by the server that set them. Websites use them to work at all, to remember preferences, and — on many sites, though not this one — to measure traffic and target advertising.

Cookies are either “session cookies”, deleted when you close your browser, or “persistent cookies”, which stay until they expire or you remove them. Cookies set by the site you are visiting are “first party”; those set by anyone else are “third party”.

Alongside cookies, sites can use related technologies. blob uses two of them: local storage, which lets the app keep preferences on your device, and IndexedDB, a browser database where your notes are held so the app opens instantly and keeps working offline. We do not use web beacons or tracking pixels.

02Why blob uses them

Two reasons, and only two. First, to keep you signed in — without a session cookie you would be logged out on every page load. Second, to store your notes and settings on your own device, which is what makes blob open instantly and keep working when the network does not.

We do not use cookies to profile you, to measure marketing campaigns, or to follow you onto other websites.

03What we store in your browser

CategoryWhat it doesWhere it livesWho sets it
Strictly necessaryKeeps you signed in and maintains your authenticated session. The Service cannot work without it, so it cannot be switched off. Blocking it in your browser will log you out.Session cookies on the blob domainblob, Supabase (authentication), Cloudflare (delivery and security)
FunctionalRemembers your preferences — theme, interface scale, sidebar width, custom shortcuts — and holds your notes locally so the app opens instantly and works offline. This data stays on your device; it is not a tracking mechanism.Local storage and IndexedDB (“blobDB”) on your deviceblob
AnalyticsNot used today. We do not measure page views, sessions or feature usage with any analytics provider.
Marketing / advertisingNot used today. We run no advertising and set no advertising or attribution cookies.

04If this changes

We may later add privacy-respecting analytics to understand which features are used, or marketing measurement if we start advertising blob. We are not doing either today.

If we do, we will update this page before the technology goes live, name the provider in the table above, and — where the law requires consent, such as in the EEA and UK — ask for it through a cookie banner with a genuine reject option. Strictly necessary cookies will remain the only category that cannot be turned off.

05How you can control cookies

  • Browser settings: every major browser lets you block or delete cookies. Blocking the strictly necessary ones will sign you out of blob and keep you signed out.
  • Clearing local data: your browser’s “site data” or “storage” settings will clear blob’s local storage and IndexedDB, removing the local copy of your notes. Synced notes remain on our servers and will download again when you sign in.
  • Deleting your account: removes your data from our servers as well — see the Privacy Policy for what that covers.

Because we set no analytics or advertising cookies, there is nothing here for you to opt out of beyond the above.

06How often we update this policy

We update this notice whenever the technologies we use change, or for operational, legal or regulatory reasons. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
